So, 2009. I don’t really remember what expectations I had when this year started, but it probably did not go the way I thought it would. I started the year with a job, an apartment, a neighborhood and roommates that I loved, and all of that changed. My temp job ended at NBC in June, I moved into a neighborhood I can’t stand (Washington Heights), into an apartment I don’t like,...

Home.
Andrew Largeman: You know that point in your life when you realize the house you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of a sudden even though you have some place where you put your shit, that idea of home is gone.
Sam: I still feel at home in my house.
Andrew Largeman: You'll see one day when you move out it just sort of happens one day and it's gone. You feel like you can never get it back. It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't even exist. Maybe it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't ever have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I don't know, but I miss the idea of it, you know. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people that miss the same imaginary place.
-I don't love this movie, but I saw it the winter vacation of freshmen year and...this quote really stuck with me.

Wow I am grumpy right now, and for no apparent reason. So, things I am grateful for today: -My mom came into town. We went to the Union Square Holiday Market, and John’s for pizza. I got Christmas gifts for my roommates, and found a pretty green ring that I’ll get on Christmas morning. -My mom brought in chocolate for me, and Hershey Kiss cookies, which are some of my favorite...

I just spent the last half hour on the phone with my best friend. I really, really miss her. She lives way upstate, and is a super smart accountant. But we’re both so busy, that we only see each other a couple times a year. Even though I’m in comedy, and spend lots of time with lots of funny people, she makes me laugh more than anyone. Man.
